Meet Kathy Kirby

Kathy is a Registered Nurse, with 20 years’ experience.  Her speciality is working with nursing leaders in community, health and aged care to build their capability in the following areas:

·         People Management – including performance management

·         Clinical Governance

·         Quality and Safety

·         Continuous Improvement

·         Developing healthy teams and culture

About Kathy:

Kathy’s career has included working in acute, sub-acute, community and aged care settings,  in various roles including in senior management, project management,  program design and implementation.

Most recently Kathy has worked as a nurse advisor in the aged care sector, working with organisations to meet compliance requirements.

Her key areas of clinical expertise are in dementia, palliative care, acute care assessment skills and in leadership and mentorship. Kathy works with a team approach and takes opportunities to share her knowledge and skills with those she is working with to build contemporary knowledge and capability within services.

In 2013 Kathy was awarded Hesta Australian Nurse of the Year in the Team Innovation category for her work in training non-clinical staff about dementia and how to communicate with people with dementia. She has a strong interest in programs for people with dementia, developing and implementing community day programs for people with dementia and their carers.

Kathy has worked in both metro and regional services. She has formal coaching expertise and enjoys working with others to build skill and capability.
