Dementia Training:

A Positive Approach to Care

Our training and dementia support services adopt well know Occupational Therapist and Dementia Guru Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care.

We are one of only a few Australia providers to be credentialled to teach Teepa’s Positive Approach to Care.

We can provide our Positive Approach Dementia Training to everyone - at home carers, clinical staff or non clinical staff.

We currently provide training options for:

  • Onsite or online group training for Health, Aged Care and Community Care teams

  • One on one onsite training for personal care workers

  • Onsite or online training for carers and family / friends of people living with dementia

Dementia Masterclass: A focus on communication

Are you looking for dementia training that actually improves client outcomes? Being able to communicate effectively with people living with dementia, to engage, connect and meet their needs ( and yours) is a skill.

As of 1 July, aligned with the Strengthened Aged Care Standards (3.2.9) Aged Care providers will be expected to support aged care workers to:

  • understand the way different individuals communicate, including individuals living with dementia or have difficulty communicating

  • communicate effectively with different individuals, both verbally and non-verbally.

Our online masterclass will equip participants with new evidenced based skills and techniques to improve the way you approach and communicate with people living with dementia - for better connection and engagement. Participants will:

  • Learn to adapt your approach to minimise agitation and responsive behaviours

  • Understanding brain and sensory changes for people living with dementia and how you can provide support to meet these changes

  • Understand how to adapt your approach for different situations, and for people at different dementia stages and when people may be under stress

  • This masterclass is underpinned by Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Dementia Care, and facilitated by certified trainers

  • This Masterclass is designed for anyone (clinical and non clinical) supporting people living with dementia in Residential Aged Care, Healthcare or in the Community

Re-designing Social Programs Online Master Class
